This place is phenomenal! The layout is clever and inviting and you can see the passion reading and books in every nook and cranny! The prices are fair and it's somewhere my wife and I intend to bring our children to pick out books regularly. Also, I believe its used books primarily, but they are in great quality and I didn't even realize it until I looked at the price of a book which was much lower than I expected (under $10 for a youth chapter book).

I love this bookstore. It is the gold standard. Used books of every genre, beautiful printings of classics, and a modest selection of trinkets and other media. The prices are absolutely fair. Fiction paperbacks may be just a few dollars. The atmosphere is very inviting and cozy. And because they're just about the only book shop in the area, the stock is always rotating, so it's worth stopping in regularly. I hope they last a long time, as The Open Book is the last bastion of literary trading in the area.

Awesome book store in Thousand Oaks Mall. When I walked in I saw many books that are banned or being challenged on the table in front of store which caught my eyes. Banned was a favorite of mine: Their Eyes Were Watching God- a 1937 novel by Nora Neale Huston set in Florida. I had to look at each book on the table- 1984 and Fahrenheit 457 were there plus many more. I ended up buying a book about exercise and another on Glucose and another one about having fun in AA. There were more I wanted to get but someone with me wanted to leave… I will definitely be back!

What a hidden gem!. Now located in the Northridge mall. This store is amazing, great selection and prices. The store itself is very easy to navigate and has signs for each section. The also have zone where you can sit and read. They sale more than just books. They have dvds, accessories, action figures and much more. The staff is really kind and helpful. They also mentioned if they didn't have a book they can check back stop and have if ready in a few days. The store is just a great place to buy book. Highly recommend.

I had such a wonderful experience at Open Book in Woodland Hills thanks to James and Jen. Both were incredibly helpful and kind, making the visit feel personal and welcoming. I especially want to highlight Jen — she truly went above and beyond. My son had been searching for a specific book series for a while, and Jen took the time to track it down and made sure we got it. Her effort and care really meant a lot to us. It’s rare to find that kind of dedication these days. We’ll definitely be coming back — thank you, Open Book!

Used bookstore prices, new bookstore experience. Most books are only $7 or $8, but they are in excellent condition. The store is clean, spacious, and well-organized. It has wide aisles, attractive displays, and good lighting. Great selection of fiction and nonfiction, from classics to bestsellers to hidden gems. I found a rare book that's been on my list for years and that I couldn't find affordably anywhere else, not even online.
